Spain ratifies Faro Convention
Spain ratified the Faro Convention - European Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society on 12 December, 2018 in Strasbourg. The Faro Convention is based on the relationship between cultural heritage and citizen participation. Its text emphasises the usefulness of cultural heritage as a resource for human development, as well as for building a more democratic society that promotes improvement of the quality of life of citizens.

Following this, and in the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, on 13-14 December 2018, Spain hosted the first European seminar on the project jointly developed by the European Union and Council of Europe: "The Faro route: Greater participation in cultural heritage".

This news is especially relevant for the Consorcio de la Ciudad de Santiago de Compostela, a partner of AtlaS.WH, which is responsible for the "Diagnosis Study", since one of the main conclusions drawn from this study was the need to stimulate and develop a close relationship between citizens and the sustainable management of WHS
